Storage Container Mural Project
Call for Expressions of Interest
Port Macquarie Community Gardens (PMCG) successfully applied for funding to enable us to refurbish our storage container area at The Lost Plot (situated in Central Road, Port Macquarie), proudly supported by the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership Grant Program for their support. The project includes repair and refurbishment of the container, and the painting of a new mural on the exterior.
We invite interested artists to submit proposals for the design and production of a suitable mural to decorate the exterior of our container.
Artwork Briefs
To design and install a mural painted directly onto the exterior walls of the PMCG metal storage container. The mural should cover three sides of the container (those facing west, north and east).
The mural should be inspired by, and relevant to The Lost Plot. The approach taken by the artists should fit with the vision, purpose and values of Port Macquarie Community Gardens (see our Strategic Plan on our website: http://thelostplot.org.au/). Projects that include participation of PMCG members and/or the wider community will be considered favourably.
The budget provided should be all-inclusive and specify individual items including artists’ fees, materials and equipment, etc. Total budget should not exceed $5,000 (including GST, if applicable).
Approximate dimensions of the container are: North-facing side 6000 x 2400, west-facing and east-facing sides 2400 x 2400.
(Note: The east-facing side consists of two hinged doors and includes handles and opening mechanisms)
The container has been cleaned and flaking paint removed by PMCG in preparation for the project.
The proposal should indicate any specific requests for additional preparation, and/or how the artists will prepare the surface prior to painting the mural. Please also indicate any top coating or protective layers you plan to apply.
